Modernization and Strengthening of the Capacity

of the Western Electrical Grid

CSG-WEST was invited to join the Western Governors' Association to participate in a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to modernize and strengthen the capacity of the western electrical grid. The grant will provide significant financial support for western state legislative involvement in policy decisions affecting the transmission of electrical power for eleven western states as well as British Columbia and Alberta in Canada and northern Baja California in Mexico. The shared responsibility for the project will build on the deepening relationship between western governors and western legislators in the pursuit of common regional interests.
