Class will be selected July 30-August 2, 2013 at the CSG-WEST Annual Meeting during the Executive Committee session.
Selection Guidelines
Each Western state is allocated at least two, and no more than four, participants in the WLA each year. Typically, each state gets three slots at the Academy.
Applicants must be in their first four years of TOTAL legislative service.
As illustrated by answers to application questions and letters of recommendation, selection criteria include:

Dedication to public service

Desire to improve personal effectiveness as a legislator

Commitment to the institution of the legislature, and
-
Interest in improving the legislative process.
A complete application includes: the application form, typewritten answers to two application questions, two letters of recommendation from legislative colleagues or elected state officials and a brief resume.
Where the applicant pool permits, it is desirable to have broad geographic representation, members of both political parties, both genders and both chambers of the legislature.
