Western Legislative Conference

 

 

 

As it has for 61 years, the Western Legislative Conference (WLC) brings together members from the 13 Western state legislatures to discuss issues of common regional concern such as water, public lands, fiscal affairs, energy, trade and transportation. The WLC committees convenes at the CSG-WEST Annual Meeting, which also offers training and professional development opportunities for all legislators.

Committees

The Executive committee serves as the Board of Directors of CSG-WEST, reviewing the work and activities of the policy committees, adopting policy positions for the organization and annually selecting participants for the Western Legislative Academy.

The Executive Committee of CSG-WEST works with staff and officers of the Western Governors’ Association, Western Municipal Conference and Western Interstate Region of the National Association of Counties to insure consistent and creative advocacy of the West's interests by political leaders at the state and local level.

This committee is comprised of state legislators dedicated to addressing the education challenges facing the West, the fastest growing region in the country.
This committee will examine policies that ensure the reliable production, generation, and transmission of the West’s fossil and renewable energy resources which are vital to the region’s economy and that maintain the environmental integrity of the West’s land, air, and water resources.
This committee provides a forum and network for chairs and members of the West’s finance and appropriation committees to exchange ideas and experiences on issues affecting state budgets and the region. 
This committee focuses on the issues related to the movement of people and goods throughout the West and through the airports or seaports of the region into global commerce.
This committee provides western legislators a forum to discuss growing and competing demands of western water and public lands.
This committee considers issues that impact the institution of the legislature.
